According to the Women’s Health Magazine (May 2012), when you use dishes that have a high color contrast with your food, you will serve yourself less.  The contrast between colors can make it easier it easier to see how much you really are piling on.  So if you have access to colorful plates, they can help you pay closer attention to your meals’ portion size.
